Moment Camera Pro Time-Lapse Woes

Version 4.0 of Pro Camera from Moment recently arrived on the AppStore, promising a wide range of updated features, including a new time-lapse feature.

The guys at moment have been working really hard on the new time-lapse feature, and it is really really cool! The ability to shoot a time-lapse with a reduced shutter speed, introducing motion-blur into each frame is a master-stroke!

Lapses during the day of fast moving objects look fantastic with motion blur applied. And of course, lapses shot in the dark can benefit from light trails.

It’s a really neat feature; but not without it’s issues.

The ability to shoot time-lapse videos in RAW and TIFF means users can export their time-lapses in individual frames for editing and re-construction later.

Alternatively, the new version of the app can export time-lapses directly into 4K video - the only issue i found with exporting time-lapses directly to video is that they often fail to export! When they do export successfully, the end video is cropped massively!

I did contact Moment about these issues, and specifically, the RAW time-lapse issue mentioned in the video. The reply was swift, and confirmed that version 4.0.2. of the app will have this problem nailed!

Hopefully the other minor bugs i’ve found so far will also be dealt with, so that i can dig deep into this app and give it a proper review. With the issues i’ve found so far, i’ve kind of lost the motivation to review the app further until the bugs are ironed out!

Big up to the team at Moment for getting an update prepared so quickly!!

What would be even cooler, is if us guys in Europe could get hold of Moment Lenses quickly and easily!
